Darker rally is one of the most dangerous sporting events but has never lost the interest of the people. This year the event again witnessed death of 2 riders Elmer Symons and Eric Aubijoux and a spectator.

The event was equally exciting like previous events held. This time the title was grabbed by Cyril Despres who drove 72 bhp KTM 690 Rally machine prepared by Austrian brand KTM. The Companies machines dominated the race as it filled the first four spots and 23 of the first 30 finishers.

Frenchman Cyril Despres (Gauloisses KTM) who finished more than half an hour in front of the field was on neck to neck competition with 2005’s champion Marc Coma who crashed when just one timed stage remaining of the 8686 kilometre event was remaining and could not further participate in the race.

Many other riders including remaining five KTM factory riders were eliminated from the race after they met some serious creashes but luckily survived any serious injuries. The Company also tested it new KTM Neck Brace protection system which proved to be quiet effective.

This wild sporting event retained its reputation as the world’s toughest rally.
